Term 1 Week 10

This week for maths we have been learning about capacity and volume.  We have been estimating and measuring in mls and l.

We have also been converting between units.  1000 L = 1Kl,  1000ml = 1L.  We discussed what liquids we would measure in each of the units, kl, l, and ml.

We completed our art this week and shared them for Celebration Time.

 The finished products will also be in our ARBs.

Janet was our author of the week at Celebration Time for her senses poem on Rain.

MVP - Asha Dickson

Asha was our MVP at Celebration Time this week for demonstrating our school value of Excellence.

Janet and Emma received certificates for great learning this week.

Term 1 Week 9

This week we finished with Lorne from Sports Southland.   He has been coming to us for six weeks teaching us running, jumping and throwing skills.

We also finished our two weeks of swimming with our wonderful instructors Luciana and Kristin from REAP.  Everyone made great progress in their swimming and refining their streamline action.

We have been painting for art focusing on artist Wassily Kandinsky.  We are hoping to share our finished pieces at Celebration Time this week.

Term 1 Week 8

This week we started swimming with our two instructors - Kristin and Luciana from REAP.  They are fantastic teaching the children the correct strokes and how to breathe.

Lorne from Sports Southland has been coming out every Tuesday for five weeks to teach us Run, Jump and Throw skills.  Here is a video of one activity he has done with us.  Just click on the picture to view.

Our inquiry is moving along to our 'Exploring and Investigating' stage where we are learning about Healthy Choices and how they help us be life-long learners.

Our great learners we celebrated this week at Celebration Time were Hunter and Brad.

Term 1 Week 7

Wow!  What a busy week we had this week at school.  Here is a snapshot of what happened.

Monday - Green Day

On Monday we all came to school dressed in green to celebrate St Patricks Day.  Everyone brought a gold coin donation that went towards supporting our sponsored child Grace.

Tuesday and Wednesday - Bike Safety

Constable Linda Graham came and talked to us about bike safety on Tuesday and went over some important rules and information.
On Wednesday we had a practical session with her to practice some skills.

Thursday - St John

On Thursday, Jo from St John came and talked to us about first aid and how to phone for help by dialing 111.  It was interesting how many children did not know their full address or phone number.  Something to work on at home to make sure they know all the information encase they have to ever dial 111.

Friday - Celebration Time

Our MVP for Team Tui this week is Joshua Geerlings for demonstrating our school value of Respect.

Anna and Lauryn got certificates for great learning this week.
