Jobs in a chocolate factory

Today we had a Look at how jobs have changed over time in a factory. Technology has changed since the early 1900's,this has meant that less people are needed to manually work in a chocolate factory. Nowadays chocolate is made with machines rather than by hand.

We had a look at jobs that people did in the "real life willy wonka factory" which was created by Joseph row tree. These photos were taken in 1912!

Then we read some job descriptions of the types of jobs people do these days in chocolate factories. We presented back our findings to the class.
chocolate technologist -makes sure that the machines keep working properly
Quality assurance - trains people up to be able to test the chocolate.
Panning sector operated - operates the machines that coat the chocolates like jaffas, smarties etc. make sure the machines are working and they are set to coat the right chocolates. Taste test to make sure they are right. (Coating is made of syrup and flour).
Industrial technologist -create new recipes and make sure they are suitable ft content, moisture etc. have to be good at chemisty, they research chocolate recipes.
Team leader- organises the staff and supervises the factory.

  1. I like the idea of being a quality control person and getting to test the chocolate.
